Careers

Opportunities for talented and agile minds start here.

Join our Futurebuild® LVL team and be part of a business providing building blocks for New Zealand home owners and their dreams.

Room to learn, develop and grow.

We need someone with a strong, varied engineering skillset. Not only will you be in charge of maintaining our machines, you’ll optimise processes and support our electrical team. You’ll also work on software and application development and testing, and hardware procurement and configuration.

Welcome to your career future.

There’s a lot to motivate you here. You’ll get exposure to a wide range of technologies you might not have encountered. You can drive your own projects for improvement and find your own niche expertise. And you’ll be part of a tightknit, low-turnover team.

Best of all, your work doesn’t disappear into a void – you get to see your results and we promise you’ll find that very rewarding.

Who are Futurebuild?

Futurebuild is part of Carter Holt Harvey, one of New Zealand’s top forest products companies. Futurebuild manufactures engineered wood for local and overseas construction projects. We make New Zealand’s biggest range of Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL) products, and provide a range of software and design services to support architects, builders, designers and homeowners.

Are you the person we need?

If you’re a recent graduate, maybe in mechatronics or a related area, there couldn’t be a better place to start your career.

You’ll be off to a great start if you’ve got experience in a similar role or environment, though it isn’t essential. An electrical background would play in your favour, but most important are your communication skills, work ethic, and flexibility.

All, most, or some of these would be useful:

 • PLC software development and testing – preferably experience with Rockwell (RS Logix 5000 and/or Studio 5000)
 • HMI application development and testing – preferably experience with Wonderware, FactoryTalk View and Ignition
 • Motion Control Applications
 • Familiarity with database design, documentation and coding
 • Industrial Networks knowledge – ControlNet, DeviceNet and Ethernet/IP
 • Hardware specification and procurement
 • Hardware configuration

A new life in and out of work

The balance you want is here. It’s a day role, not shiftwork – though sometimes you might be called in to provide onsite support. With an excellent salary and a healthcare package, you’ll have plenty of scope to fully live your life in Whangarei. There’s beaches, walks and fishing, and we’re famous for our fantastic weather.

So can you see your future here? We can – and there’s massive opportunity waiting for you.
